Why Consciousness exists?
Why universe exists? We don't know.
We don't know.
The former can be answered in a reasonable amount of years by studying the brain. But to answer the later, we need to understand more about the question *why*
The answer to any *why* question is the reason; the cause of the matter at question. So when we ask why universe exists, we assume that the existence of the universe is the effect of some cause.
Since we live in the aforementioned effect, which also introduced the notion of time, we cannot say what happened before that.
Why universe exists? == What happened before big bang that led to the big bang?
